Mission...
This website is intended to reveal the truths about life we have been blinded to since birth through the work of an enchantment we are fully unaware of. The mission here on The Road to Reality is to expose this enchanted worldview and reveal to you a new door; an infinitely more real door, and then guide you steadily through it until your embers of curiosity morph into flames of understanding. As you will begin to see, there is a way to know what is real, but the thing is, it is fully contrary and highly unpopular on the everyday streets of worldly mainstream intellectualism.
If you're like me you will admit that since our beginnings many things we've been led to believe about this life have turned out to be quite the opposite. In our upbringing we are subjected to the beliefs and character traits of those responsible for us, those we ran with, or those we were in some way drawn to as role models whether right, wrong or indifferent. If we were fortunate enough to have had sound instruction as children, and were wise enough to make use of that learning, we've certainly been blessed. On the other hand, if we were not a part of that group, we've got a lot of catching up to do. The catching up however, will not occur from where we are. We must first turn around, go back, re-evaluate, and begin anew.

"We all want progress. But progress means getting nearer to the place where you want to be.
And if you have taken a wrong turning, then to go forward does not get you any nearer. If you are on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; and in that case the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive man."
(C.S.Lewis)
For the majority the reality is that the concept of Truth has constantly and tragically eluded us. In our lack of understanding of what truth actually is we can never know what is real, and so we live out our lives without answers and transfer ultimately meaningless views of the world on to our children. Refusing to take a stand as individuals and then as parents to uphold values and standards that are objective instead of subjective in nature we strip ourselves of any real weight when it comes to showing our kids the way into adulthood. For more than fifty years I too had floundered as a victim of this rudderless, worldly, relative mindset, treading water in the deep end of an enchanted worldview created by the absence of absolute Truth. Incongruent and deceptive thoughts had led me to make foolish decisions at every fork in the road and although I'd been blessed with a great profession, still my life spiraled out of control. After multiple failures and disappointments in my life I felt empty, lost and hopeless, and grew increasingly apathetic. I prayed over and over to this God who felt so distant, that he would show me what was true about my life, but the answers never came. At times I even invited, in fact preferred death, but it was not to be. It was not to be because believe it or not, He had a plan for my life, just as he has a plan for yours. The truth of the matter was that my story, your story, all of our stories have been written into the fabric of tale far greater, and all we are called to do is believe it.
Through a series of events, and at long, long last, I came upon the book that explained precisely what I'd been experiencing over all those years. (For me it was, Waking the Dead; author John Eldredge). As I read, it uncovered the truth that things very simply, are not what they seem at the surface. We must look deeper, and ever since that day I've been digging, digging, digging, and everything has changed. The apathy is gone and life has blossomed into the experience it was meant to be because I've come to know that you and I are far more than we've imagined.
Reality is found inside the depths of our desire to know what is real. We can know the fullness of reality without any doubt, but we must first surrender in a right humility. Then we must refuse to be lazy; refuse to be excessively comfortable; refuse to be sloth like, asking with right motives for the strength that allows us to expand our vision. If ever we are to receive all that is intended for us in this life we must seek, we must knock, so that we might find great purpose. We must search our hearts with passion and diligence in an attitude of surrender so that our Maker will be our guide. He is here; He is there; He is everywhere desiring to reveal Himself to us but we simply must believe Him at His Word, in His Word. The Creator must be believed over His creation (God over man) in order that the real may become known.
In the following writings I hope to provide you with the curiosity and thus the motivation to seek. Reality is imbedded in the Truth; we all know this to be true at our core. It is a simple concept, and it is my prayer that you will see this through the eyes of a Truth centered, Truth seeking heart. It is my hope that you will connect with the manner in which the material here is presented, that it will spark a great desire within you to uncover what is actually true about your life and then lead you into the majestic light that cannot be explained, but only experienced in the ultimate personal relationship; the one between you and the God of the universe.
Confusion is rampant in the world today. We must slow down in our thoughts, move away from the fray, and walk systematically toward order knowing that it is prudent. As John Eldredge presents it, we've been set in the middle of an epic story that is far larger than our ability to comprehend from a man centered perspective. As naturally born men who never emerge from the grips of our tiny present culture we are disconnected from this larger reality about our lives. Jesus says, it is only when we are born of the spirit in the second birth that we are enabled to truly see on the platform from which He is teaching, and this is a gift from God. We cannot see the epic story of life without surrendering our will to His, so we must back up and reconsider what is real according to Him, for He is the object of reality.

For clarification purposes, the use of the word 'Enchantment' on this Road to Reality website is in no way biblical. It is simply made use of here as a metaphor, or a bridge to aid the reader in an initial understanding of the greater story we are a part of. It was from this setting, from this vantage point that the door to Gods amazing grace was opened to me in a purposeful way. In reality, we are not enchanted at all, but merely born into this world without God's spirit in our hearts because of a very real condition called sin. If we were indeed enchanted, it would imply that we were born into all that is right (righteous) to begin with and then 'lured away' into deception, which is the foundation of the great lie we've come to believe as reality.
